Even on the Trailhawk, Jeep offers no protection for the 8-speed automatic transmission and its coolant lines. Being located right behind the front wheels, it is particularly vulnerable to damage when traversing steps or crawling over rocks. Taking a hit in this area could puncture the transmission pan or rupture the coolant lines, spilling transmission fluid and leaving you helpless on the trail... and that's if you';re lucky! A really hard hit could destroy your transmission leaving you with a $4000+ repair bill!

The XOPlate Transmission Skid Plate for Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK2) is the strongest WK2 transmission skid plate you can buy for your WK2. It shields it with hard, 10 gauge, cold-rolled steel and utilizes 3/4" square, 1/8" thick tubular ribs for unmatched strength. Ventilation slots ensure continued cooling and water drainage. A simple, bolt-on design allows it to be installed in minutes. A durable, powder-coat finish protects against abrasion and corrosion, too!

Unlike other transmission skid plates, the XOPlate Transmission Skid Plate can be removed by itself without requiring removal of the front axle or transfer case skid plate (if so equipped). Conversely, the front axle or transfer case skid plates can be removed while leaving the XOPlate Transmission Skid Plate in place.
